Introduction

This project uses quantitative and qualitative methods to assess the effectiveness of suicide prevention strategies in Australia, and to develop innovative strategies for Japan based on Australia’s experience. In the mid-1990s Australian suicide prevention strategies were improved, resulting in huge falls in suicide mortality across the country. This project uses analysis of Australian data and interviews with key policy-makers in Australia to identify which policies were effective and make recommendations for Japan.
