TOYOSAKI Kanako, Graduated MPH Program in AY 2021

St. Luke’s GSPH is the perfect place for maintaining a study-life balance

St. Luke’s MPH program provides an environment that makes it easy to lean while working. I myself worked full time during my first year and changed my job to part time during my second year in order to have more time to focus on my studies, and since then my school life has been dramatically enhanced. Not only did I experience being a class supporter in the Hospital Administration and Health Policy and Management coursed and a research assistant in the Environmental Health course, I was also able to participate in projects with companies and an abundance of seminars, as well as auditing classed at the Graduate School of Nursing.
As for my Capstone Project, the cross-sectional study I originally planned had to be abandoned due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but I was able to learn practically the difficulties of collecting primary data and conducting epidemiological research, as well as the principle involved in the planning process. I am truly grateful to my professors for their enthusiastic guidance even after I changed my research method to a review study.
My classmates came from a variety of backgrounds, including occupations and nationalities, and the insights I gained from this diverse student body were very stimulating. I also feel that the faculty and instructors who are kind and supportive are definitely an attractive feature of this school. I believe that St. Luke’s MPH is a wonderful environment for those who aspire to public health and want to be active in this field.
After completing the MPH, I will be working in Indonesia. Although my career in public health is still in its infancy, I would like to continue my efforts to become a person who can contribute globally to solving problems surrounding healthcare with a sense of responsibility and a broad perspective as a person who has studied public health.
