2021年11月　博士課程の学生であるThe-Phuong Nguyenは、ベトナムにおけるCOVID-19のDelta variantの可能性を予測する研究を行い、Journal of Global Health誌に発表しました。この研究により、ホーチミン市で実施された既存の公衆衛生対策は効果的であるものの、現在のCOVID-19の発生を抑制するには不十分であることが示唆されました。本研究では中低所得国であるベトナムが直面している資源上の制約を考慮し、医薬品と非医薬品の戦略からなる多面的な介入を推奨しています。
この研究は、Phuongさんが2021年度博士後期課程のコース「感染症学モデリング」の受講中に発案し、Zoie Wong准教授の指導の下進められたものです。

2021年11月　Zoie Wong准教授の研究チームは、COVID-19の重要な情報を一般の人々に提供するために、「Japan LIVE Dashboard」（https://covid-2019.live/）の開発も行いました。このダッシュボードは3,000万回もアクセスされており、最近では「European Conference for Context Sensitive Health Informatics 2021」で「Best COVID-19 Paper Award」を受賞しました。さらにWong准教授はKeele大学のMichael Rigby名誉教授と共同で、COVID-19に対応して急速に規模を拡大したデジタルヘルスアプリケーションに関連するリスクを調査しました。この研究は、International Journal of Medical Informaticsに掲載され、次世代インフォマティクスの評価に新たな知見をもたらしました。また、この出版物は、国際医療情報学協会（IMIA）の医療情報学における技術評価と品質開発（Technical Assessment and Quality Development in Health Informatics）ワーキンググループの2021年の成果の一つとなっています。
