Capstone project experience encouraged me to start a company offering new services

At the time of enrollment, I was working for a pharmaceutical company, where I was responsible for data generation, digital health, and health policy. I had studied epidemiology and statistics to some extent, but
I wanted to re-learn them systematically, so I decided to enroll at St. Luke's International University, where I could attend classes while working and where many of the professors had practical backgrounds.
I had always wanted to eliminate repetitive tasks and properly utilize human resources, so my Capstone Project focused on creating a video and chatbot to explain endoscopic procedures. Thanks to the advice of my supervisor, Dr. Wong, on the general approach to the digital health app development process and the evaluation methods at each stage of development, I was able to produce a scientifically sound report that not only covered the creation of the product, but also the evaluation of the product and its decision-making methods. I also learned that data exit strategies, such as how to inform which stakeholders, will be important in data generation, and how important evidence generation is in advancing new services.
In the past, I often passively thought that issues such as the challenges of human resources were problems that someone else would solve, but I was encouraged by the unique backgrounds of the professors and special lecturers and decided to start my own business, albeit as a private company. In the future, I plan to challenge myself to solve problems in gastrointestinal endoscopy as a clinician, while also running a company that I founded while still in school that creates and operates chatbots and videos to communicate medical information, develop products, and generate evidence. I believe that my experience at St. Luke’s will be very useful in both of these areas.
