SALEHIN Shahta Zarab, Graduated MPH Program in AY 2017

Epidemiologist and Public Health Specialist, Institute of Epidemiology disease Control and Research, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Dhaka, Bangladesh

I have not only acquired knowledge, but also increased my awareness and skills as a public health professional

Currently I am working as a field epidemiologist in Bangladesh, investigating how various diseases occur in the country. Most recently, I am working on pandemic surveillance and containment of COVID-19 pandemic in Bangladesh. When I studied at GSPH, I could learn about public health in a comprehensive manner. One of the most stimulating classes was Global Health, which left a deep impression on me not only because of the depth of the content, but also because of the fascinating interactive learning process between faculty and students. I feel that the knowledge that the knowledge I gained from various fields such as epidemiology, international infectious diseases, biostatistics, and health policy and management is very useful in my current work. Although I received my degree before the COVID-19 pandemic, I had a great opportunity to lean that emerging and reemerging infectious diseases can spread around the world in a very short period of time. As an epidemiologist and disease researcher, I always try to be aware of the need to prepare for unforeseen circumstances, In the future, I would like to obtain a doctoral degree in public health and become a public health expert who can further contribute to people and society.
