国連エイズ合同計画（UNAIDS）と聖路加国際大学 日本とアジア太平洋地域におけるエイズ終結に向け協働

国連エイズ合同計画（UNAIDS）と聖路加国際大学は、協力関係を強化し、アジア太平洋地域および日本でのエイズ流行の終結に向けた協働に取り組むことを目的とした連携協定を締結します。本協定を通じ、両機関が協働してアジアおよび太平洋地域において疫学・公衆衛生学におけるHIV・エイズ研究の推進を図ります。
協定調印式は11月30日、大村進・美枝子記念 聖路加臨床学術センター日野原ホールにて行われ、UNAIDS副事務局長、ガニラ・カールソン氏と聖路加国際大学理事長、糸魚川順が署名します。ガニラ・カールソン氏は2017年12月に国連事務総長、アントニオ・グテーレス氏により現職の任命を受け、今回の日本訪問では2018年の世界エイズデーに合わせ11月30日から12月2日の3日間、日本を公式訪問します。
世界エイズデーは毎年12月1日に定められており、HIVへの対応を世界の人々で考える機会となっています。今年のテーマは 『感染の有無を知ろう（Know your status）』で、すべての人がHIV検査を受けることを奨励しています。治療を広め、HIVと共に生きるすべての人々が健康的で生産的な生活を送れるようにするためには、HIV検査が不可欠です。90-90-90目標を達成すること、また自分自身と愛する者を守るために人々がHIV感染を防ぐ選択をできるようにするためにも、検査は極めて重要です。
本協定調印式後、ガニラ・カールソン氏は、聖路加国際大学での世界エイズデー公式行事開式の挨拶を行います。翌日は大阪に移動し、UNAIDS副事務局長として記念行事に出席します。大阪世界エイズデー啓発イベントでスピーチを行うほか、大阪市中央公会堂での世界エイズデー展示イベントへの訪問や、HIV対応の主要パートナーとの会合も予定されています。また第32回日本エイズ学会学術集会・総会「誰一人取り残さない」の公開市民フォーラムおいてもスピーチを行う予定です。
UNAIDS and St. Luke’s International University to work together on ending the AIDS epidemic in Asia, the Pacific and in Japan
Tokyo, Japan, 30 November 2018 - The Joint United Nations Programme on HIV/AIDS (UNAIDS) and the St. Luke’s International University, will strengthen their collaboration by signing a memorandum of understanding to combine efforts towards ending the AIDS epidemic in Asia, the Pacific and in Japan. The agreement will call for both organizations to jointly promote the AIDS response in Asia and the Pacific region and epidemiological and public health research regarding HIV and AIDS in Asia and the Pacific and Japan.
Gunilla Carlsson UNAIDS Deputy Executive Director and Jun Itoigawa, Chairperson of the Board of Trustees will sign the memorandum of understanding on 30th of November at a ceremony at Hinohara Hall, OMURA Susumu & Mieko Memorial St. Luke’s Center for Clinical Academia. Gunilla Carlsson, who was appointed by United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres as UNAIDS Deputy Executive Director in December 2017, will travel to Japan for a three-day official visit from 30th November to 2nd of December to mark World AIDS Day 2018.
World AIDS Day takes place on the 1st December each year. It’s an opportunity for people worldwide to unite in the HIV response. This year’s theme will be “Know your status” to encourage everyone to get tested for HIV. HIV testing is essential for expanding treatment and ensuring that all people living with HIV can lead healthy and productive lives. It is also crucial to achieving the 90–90–90 targets and empowering people to make choices about HIV prevention so they can protect themselves and their loved ones.
After the MoU signing ceremony, Gunilla Carlsson will deliver opening remarks at the World AIDS Day public event at St Luke’s International University. On the following day, UNAIDS Deputy Executive Director will travel to Osaka, to attend World AIDS Day commemorations. She will speak at Osaka World AIDS Day Event and she will visit the World AIDS Day exhibition at Osaka City Central Public Hall. Her agenda includes meetings with key partners of the HIV response including civil society. During her stay she is also scheduled to deliver remarks at the 32nd Meeting of the Japanese Society for AIDS Research’s Open Citizen’s Forum “Leave no one behind”.
